With multiple dogs, and a couple of very opinionated cats in the house, finding treats everyone actually loves is sometimes a challenge, but these freeze-dried green-lipped mussels are a total win. My pets go absolutely nuts for them, so they must love the taste and crunch. I love that they’re single-ingredient, grain-free, and packed with omega-3 for joint support. They aren't terribly hard and break easily into smaller pieces to use for high-value training treats, but they are a little crumbly when doing so because they're pretty thick mussels. Overall, it’s nice knowing I’m giving them something healthy that actually gets eaten without protest.

The smell is akin to a Maine beach waiting for high tide ... pungent comes to mind. But no hesitation from my puppy. My only test after the initial few times is that I put five in front of her - no hesitation. Woofed them immediately.Quite to my surprise, there's a bunch of scientific studies out there on freeze-dried mussels for pets. To summarize ... I haven't had any issues with them breaking or crumbling, although there is a bunch of dust on the bottom - not any more than I expected, but it is there.The smell is strong. I have a half-gallon treat jar. These guys are not in it. They stay in the shipped container, which thankfully contains the smell just fine.The price is fine, particularly because I dole them out only once or twice a week.

My dogs love these and I love that they are a single ingredient snack. I had never heard of green lipped mussels but decided to give them a try since my pups love this brand’s other snack options such as the dried fish skins. Of course they do smell like fish food, but they are Bruno and Riley approved so I will purchase them again. They are easy to eat and make a great little snacky snack and we have had no digestive issues. The pieces are small enough for dogs of all sizes.

The pieces are whole and dry, with very little crumbling in the container. There’s a noticeable seafood smell when opened, but nothing overpowering. Each piece comes out cleanly without much dust or residue. The size worked well for both a Miniature Schnauzer and a Golden Retriever, and could be split easily if needed.

The green-lipped mussels have a strong smell, which is typically a good sign; the smellier they are, the better your pup will like them! In fact, they smell just as strong as the other smelly fish and seafood treats my Pomeranian loves. I have a small Pom who weighs 5 pounds, and I found it easy to break the treats into smaller pieces. She can eat the whole thing, but she prefers smaller treats. This was easy to break up, though a little messy. That said, they work well broken up as a food topper.The product is imported and not made in the USA, but the company does not claim that it's American-made. I looked into the approval ratings and found no evidence to suggest otherwise, which gave me peace of mind. While I usually prefer American-made products, these mussels look and smell just like the ones I buy from America or New Zealand. The packaging also clearly states they are 100% green-lipped mussels, and, on a positive note, it does a great job of containing the smell. Trust me, you can store these in your pantry without creating any odors.Overall, I like the product, and so far, my pup does too. I especially love that, for the price, you get a lot!
